DALLAS, Texas (Friday, December 16) – Dallas Cup, the oldest and most prestigious international youth soccer tournament in North America, has announced that Germany's Eintracht Frankfurt will return to compete at the 2023 Dallas Cup. The Bundesliga club will once again send their 17-Under girls team to play in the Dallas Cup Girls' Invitational presented by Mary Kay, as well as their 14-Under boys team, who will defend their title at the Dallas Cup presented by Coca-Cola.
"We are thrilled to welcome back Eintracht Frankfurt to Dallas Cup this April," said Dallas Cup's Executive Director, Peter Davis. "Last year’s tournament was critical for Dallas Cup as we welcomed back international competitors for the first time since 2019. It was wonderful to see a globally recognized club like Eintracht Frankfurt help pioneer international competition within the Girls’ Invitational and to see their boys’ team put on one of the best performances of the whole tournament. Eintracht Frankfurt has a track record of success in our tournament so we are excited to see what is next for their programs in 2023.” Now in its third year, the 2023 Dallas Cup Girls’ Invitational presented by Mary Kay welcomes back the 17-Under Eintracht Frankfurt girls, who debuted as one of the tournament’s first international girls teams in 2022. Last spring, the highlight of their tournament campaign was a 3-1 win at Cotton Bowl Stadium, which marked the first-ever Girls’ Invitational game played at the historic venue. In 2023, the next wave of 17-Under Eintracht Frankfurt girls talent hopes to become the first international girls side to win the coveted “Boot & Ball” championship trophy.
Also returning next spring, the Eintracht Frankfurt 14-Under Boys side will defend their title at the 2023 Dallas Cup presented by Coca-Cola. In 2022, the Frankfurt boys advanced to the 14U final in dominating fashion, compiling a 5-0 record with 26 goals scored and 2 goals conceded. In the final, the German side continued to show their class as they defeated the Dallas Texans Academy, 3-0, in the final and hoisted the 14U Boys championship trophy.
“Taking part in the Dallas Cup has been a tradition for Eintracht Frankfurt for many years and every year we look forward to the tournament with real anticipation,” said Armin Kraaz, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Head of Sports Projects America. “The boys have already managed to take a few titles back to Frankfurt, so it is all the sweeter that our girls are also returning for the second time and have the opportunity to play in such a prestigious international tournament. For the players – both boys and girls – participation is not only of great sporting value, but also has cultural benefits. And for Eintracht as a club, the Dallas Cup is also a platform that fits perfectly into the internationalization strategy, not least because of its presence and reach within the USA.” Eintracht Frankfurt has one of the richest Dallas Cup histories of any club, playing in the tournament on sixteen occasions and winning six “Boot & Ball” trophies, including the 2011 Super Group. Prior to the cancellation of the tournament in 2020, The Eagles had played in every Dallas Cup since 2006. The 2023 Dallas Cup presented by Coca-Cola will be played April 2 through April 9. The boys’ tournament component will once again be played concurrently with the Dallas Cup Girls’ Invitational presented by Mary Kay (Girls 15U-18/19U) which runs April 1 through April 7.
