Dallas Cup Appoints Frank Filo as Director of Operations to Help Steer Tournament's Future

DALLAS, TX (Tuesday, Oct. 17) — Dallas Cup, the oldest and most prestigious international youth soccer tournament in North America, is proud to announce the promotion of Frank Filo to the position of Director of Operations. In his new role, Frank Filo will lead and oversee numerous key internal efforts of the tournament, working closely with the Board of Directors under the leadership of recently appointed Board President, John Sutter.

Frank Filo brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep-rooted connection to the Dallas-Fort Worth soccer landscape. His journey in the world of soccer began with a Hall of Fame career at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, followed by a successful stint as a professional player, notably with the Dallas Sidekicks, where he secured two World Indoor Soccer League Championships in 1998 and 2001.

However, it is Filo's unwavering passion for the sport and his heartfelt connection to the Dallas Cup that truly sets him apart. A proud alumnus of the Dallas Cup himself (1988), Filo's commitment to the tournament has been steadfast. Over the past thirteen years, he has diligently served as the Operations Manager and Volunteer Coordinator, gaining a deep appreciation for the tournament's loyal volunteer base and a profound understanding of the intricate workings of this one-of-a-kind event.

Frank Filo's appointment as Director of Operations signifies the Dallas Cup's dedication to a bright future both on and off the pitch. With Filo at the helm of the tournament's internal operations and the strong support of the Board of Directors and dedicated staff, the Dallas Cup is poised for continued growth and success.

In addition to Frank Filo, Dallas Cup is pleased to announce the additional promotions of two other staff members - Frances Ortiz-Solares has been named Manager of Administration and Diversity and Evan Boehmer is now Dallas Cup’s Public Relations and Marketing Manager.

Dallas Cup President, John Sutter, after making the previous announcements, had the following comment, “These changes recognize the dedication, tireless efforts and contributions Frank, Frances, and Evan have exhibited and made over many years. With these advancements, the Dallas Cup family looks forward to the exciting journey ahead, confident that the tournament remains in committed, capable hands.” As Dallas Cup gears up for its 45th anniversary in 2024, the tournament continues to build on the remarkable legacy established since its inception in 1980.
